On Friday 30th January 2015 over 100 past pupils from the
70's, together with the fathers of some members of this
year's SCT and members of the coaching staff, gathered in
the school for a celebration of Gonzaga rugby in the 70's
and to announce the "Team of the Decade". This had been
selected (in secret!) by Noel McCarthy (now retired, but
the Senior Team coach during much of that era).

Fearing that the desire of some alumni to be
included on the team might overcome their probity, the
organisers arranged that the selection be delivered in a
sealed envelope by none other than Mr. Whirdy.
