earliest days – Fr Harry
Lawlor, Fr Joe Kelly
and Fr Kevin Laheen.
Of the latter two as
referees, he says that
their interpretation of
the rules was rather ad
hoc, with parents on
occasions running onto
the pitch to remonstrate. They would, wouldn’t they!
Kevin Laheen was ‘magister ludi’ until succeeded by Fr
Noel Barber in 1962
