The production team included, among others,
Mr Coilín Murray, a teacher of art who succeeded
Hazel Martin for a time until the arrival of Darragh
O’Connell, whose extraordinarily creative settings
adorned well over fifty productions on the old
Gonzaga stage.
The first of the Gonzaga operas was produced
in January, 1976. The keynote humour that would
recur in all the titles was struck at once: ‘A Spy in the
Ointment’.
